The Office of Hawaiian Affairs will hold the second in a series of planned meetings regarding military-leased lands in Hawaiʻi on Wednesday. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. and will be held at the Community Learning Center in Māʻili on O‘ahu. The meeting will be streamed at oha.org.

Lawmakers Consider Bills to Streamline Construction Projects’ Lengthy Historic Preservation Review

The State Historic Preservation Division reviews construction projects to ensure that there is no destruction of historic and sacred sites or ancestral bones. Out of the 1,300 projects submitted for review last year, they completed reviews on a little over half. Lawmakers are considering policies to improve the historic preservation review process.

Hawaiian Humane Society Launches $10 Microchip Program for Holidays

In an effort to keep pets safe during the holiday season, the Hawaiian Humane Society launched its Microchip Madness initiative to help families protect their four-legged members during this high-risk time. Running from Dec. 15, 2025 through Jan. 15, 2026, the program will provide microchipping for just $10 at participating Oʻahu veterinary clinics with no additional office visit charges.
