Latest National Weather Service satellite and radar imagery from shortly past noon today (Dec. 6) showed the ash cloud is moving due east early this afternoon, and webcams suggest light ashfall will be possible downwind of the plume, primarily in Puna.

Sustained lava fountains approximately 50-100 feet are currently erupting from the north vent. Fountain heights are increasing rapidly and are coming from both the left and right vents within the north cone.

UPDATE: Threat of coastal flooding expected to carry over for another day
National Weather Service forecasters in Honolulu extended the coastal flood statement as brief periods of minor flooding are still expected along shorelines and in low-lying areas of the state during peak high tides.
