Business Monday: Merrie Monarch Hawaiian Arts and Crafts Fair kicks off this week
The Merrie Monarch Hawaiian Arts and Craft Fair kicks off on Wednesday and ends on Saturday. Vendors will be located at the Afook Chinen Civic Auditorium & Butler Buildings from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Injured hiker rescued from Ho‘opi‘i Falls Trail
The 54-year-old woman visiting from San Diego, Calif., apparently fell while hiking the trail April 23 and injured her ankle. She was taken to Wilcox Medical Center in Līhuʻe after being extracted from the trail — amid unstable weather conditions — for further treatment.
Water conservation request stretches into third week for parts of North Shore
Water customers in Hanalei and ʻAnini Beach were originally asked to take water conservation measures after a mechanical failure at a pump station April 4 affected the county’s water system storage supply in the area.

Wastewater did reach some nearby properties, but none reached state waters. Ponded material was pumped down, and contaminated propertiees were disinfected following the spill that happened between 4 and 5 p.m. April 23.
