$1M in NATIVE Act funding for Native Hawaiian Organizations
 

The Department of the Interior’s Office of Native Hawaiian Relations today announced $1 million in funding for Native Hawaiian Organizations through the Heritage Opportunities in Hawaiʻi grant program. The funding is made possible by the Native American Tourism and Improving Visitor Experience Act, which enables Indigenous communities to participate in national tourism goals and strategies.

City to extend hours for driver’s licenses, road test appointments
 

According to the city, more than 81,000 O‘ahu residents’ driver’s licenses and state IDs will be expiring this year. Starting on April 6, some city services will remain available for at least one Saturday up until June 29.

Those who are deaf or hard of hearing are invited to Sea Life Park Hawaii’s upcoming event to celebrate ASL Day, set on Monday, April 15. The event will feature interpreted programming throughout the park grounds, an ASL story time, immersive activities, and more. It is free to those who are hard of hearing or deaf and their family members can enjoy Kama‘aina pricing.

Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement and Kupu Offer Workforce Opportunities for Wildfire-Affected Residents
 

The Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement (CNHA) in partnership with Kupu, Hawaiʻi’s largest youth-focused conservation and sustainability nonprofit, is offering workforce opportunities for wildfire-impacted residents on Maui. Participating Kupu participants will assist at CNHA’s Maui Resource Center and Distribution Center in Kahului with supply distribution, making home-kits, as well as moving wildfire survivors into homes.
