3.1 magnitude earthquake hits Hawaii Island
HILO, Hawaii (Island News) – A 3.1 magnitude earthquake was reported on Hawaii Island Thursday morning.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the quake struck at approximately 8:34 a.m. and was centered at a depth of about 13 miles (21 km). The exact location was 19.340N 155.857W.
So far, USGS reports that 79 people throughout the island felt the earthquake. Residents who felt the shaking are encouraged to report it to the USGS at “Did You Feel It?” to assist with monitoring and research.
