Lawmakers boost grants for nonprofits

Fight against Rapid Ohia Death advances

By GRACE INEZ ADAMS Hawaii Tribune-Herald In 2012, Robert Hauff and other researchers noticed something unusual about the ohia trees they were studying in Puna. The canopy of the trees seemed to be dying back at an alarming rate. Residents had also been reporting similar observations in the area.
