U.S. abruptly cancels deployment of 4,000 troops to Poland
It was unclear why Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth canceled the deployment to Poland, which has close relations with the United States and had been considered a possible location for some of the forces leaving Germany. Read more
Lava fountaining returns to Kilauea’s Halemaumau crater
Hawaiian Volcano Observatory said the fountaining began at 3:27 p.m. and was focused at the north vent, with periodic spattering at the south vent within the summit crater. Read more

Visitor, 30, dies after being pulled from ocean off Kauai
