The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announces plans for Kahului Hawaiʻi Temple

This temple will be constructed on a 7.6-acre site located along Kuikahi Drive next to an existing meetinghouse at 1300 Maui Lani Parkway in Kahului. Plans call for a single-story temple of 19,000 square feet and an accompanying ancillary building.

Update: Maui Flood Advisory extended to 1:30 p.m.

The National Weather Service has extended a Flood Advisory for the island of Maui until 1:30 p.m. At 11:13 a.m., radar continued to show heavy rain over north facing slopes of Haleakalā, including the Hāna Highway.

$2.2M micro-grant program opens for small-scale agriculture

The Hawai‘i Department of Agriculture and Biosecurity is now accepting applications for the popular Micro-Grant for Food Security Program. This is the fifth year of the grant program which provides support for small-scale gardening, herding and livestock operations to increase the quantity and quality of locally grown food in food-insecure communities.
