A Pahoa couple has been charged with multiple sexual offenses against a juvenile.

In a press release, police did not disclose the age of the victim.
After a months-long investigation by the Area I Juvenile Aid Section, the case on Dec. 29 was presented to a grand jury, resulting in indictments and bench warrants issued for the couple.
Following the indictment, police personnel attempted to locate both suspects at their Pahoa residence, but police learned that Canite had traveled to Oahu. With assistance from the Honolulu Police Department, she was located and arrested without incident on Dec. 31.
Canite was charged with first-degree promotion of child abuse, two counts of first-degree sexual assault, and two counts of third-degree sexual assault. Her bail was set at $250,000.
On Friday, Jan. 2, she was arraigned in Third Circuit Court and released with bail conditions, including electronic monitoring.
This morning, Schutter turned himself in at the Hilo Police Station, where he was arrested and charged with the following offenses: first-degree promotion of child abuse, two counts of first-degree sexual assault, and two counts of third-degree sexual assault.
Bail for Schutter was set at $250,000. He is scheduled to make his initial court appearance this afternoon in Hilo District Court.
