Human remains found in Ocean View house fire

Human remains were found early Wednesday morning in Ocean View in the rubble of an unpermitted structure destroyed by fire.

The Hawaii Fire Department didn’t release the identity of the deceased nor the gender of the victim.

Seven units responded to the 2:08 alarm to the 92-9200 block of Reef Parkway. The first unit arrived at 2:23 a.m.

The fire was reported under control a 2:40 a.m. and extinguished at 4:05 a.m.

The structure was a total loss with estimated property damage at $20,000.

The scene was turned over to police for further investigation.
