The chemical detected is 1-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)-benzene (PCBTF) within the Volcano Catchment Chlorinator, which is owned by the U.S. Department of the Interior. PCBTF is an industrial solvent that is currently not regulated in drinking water, meaning there is no established federal or state maximum contaminant level or state environmental action level.

Kīhei man succumbs to injuries from moped crash near Piʻikea roundabout

A Maui man has succumbed to injuries sustained in a single vehicle moped crash on Līloa Drive near the Piʻikea Avenue roundabout reported last week in Kīhei. Maui police have since identified the man as Kenneth Gricus, 62, of Kīhei.

Hunting licenses and stamps to be issued for the 2025-2026 hunting season

Effective June 15, the DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife will begin issuing hunting licenses and stamps for the new hunting season. The date of issuance will be through June 30, 2026.
