A state bill that would legalize adult personal use of marijuana — as well as regulate recreational cannabis, medical cannabis and hemp within a single office — will get its first committee hearing this week.

Death toll in Honolulu fireworks blast rises to 5

Carmelita Benigno, 61, Nelie Ibarra, 58, and Jennifer Van, 23, died in the blast at a Keaka Drive house party at 12:01 a.m. New Year’s Day. Cassius Ramos-­Benigno, 3, died Jan. 6 at the hospital.
