First Alert Forecast: Flood Watch and High Wind Warning extended for the east end of the state
Several severe weather alerts have taken effect as a strong winter storm system moves through Hawaii.
Mayor Kimo Alameda said in a statement that the proclamation allows for the county to streamline its response and coordinate resources as heavy rainfall and high winds are expected.
The order from Mayor Rick Blangiardi allows special rules to assist with storm recovery.
