Dangerously large waves of 10 to 15 feet will continue to slam shorelines from ʻUpolu Point in North Kohala to South Point in Kaʻū for at least the next couple of days, with an overlapping extra-large swell building in Wednesday and surf heights staying far above warning levels through Thursday.

Maui police request help locating missing teen

Wright-Jordan was reported missing on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025 by a family member after she was discovered to have left her residence sometime on Monday, Jan. 6, 2024 and did not return.  Wright-Jordan was last seen around 5 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 6, 2025 by another family member at his residence in Haʻikū.

Lane closures continue through Friday for several Kekaha roadways

Area residents will only be allowed partial access through the closures scheduled through Friday as work continues from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily, weather permitting.

Update: Firefighters knock down brush fire near ʻEhukai Road in Anahola

No injuires or damages to structures were reported. Kaua‘i Fire Department officials estimate the blaze that caused the evacuation of a few homes as a precaution burned fewer than 10 acres.

US attorney for Hawaiʻi resigns

Connors — who served from Jan. 3, 2019, to Dec. 10, 2021, as Hawaiʻi attorney general — became U.S. attorney for Hawaiʻi on Jan. 3, 2022, after being nominated Sept. 28, 2021, by Biden and confirmed Dec. 7, 2021, by the U.S. Senate.
