What are your thoughts on the Public Safety Power Shutoff program?
  • I think it’s a great idea. It will save lives.
  • I think it puts people at risk. Losing power means losing ability to power medical supplies.
  • It’s hard to say. The program hasn’t been engaged at this point.
  • Not sure about the program, but I like the weather camera stations.
  • I don’t know enough about the program to say if it’s helpful or not.
  • There is no simple answer to protecting against wildfires. But I’m open to the program.

FEMA awards additional $7.9M in Disaster Case Management funding to expand recovery support for Maui wildfire survivors

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has awarded an additional $7.9 million in funding to the Hawaiʻi Department of Human Services to expand the state’s Disaster Case Management Program. This additional funding will enable the program to expand its current reach by more than double, capable of serving approximately 3,000 households.

Keōpūolani Park to close for half-day Aug. 31 for Maui Interscholastic League Cross Country event

Access to Keōpūolani Park facilities will be temporarily restricted to competition use Saturday morning, Aug. 31, to host a Maui Interscholastic League Cross Country event in preparation for the Hawaiʻi High School Athletic Association State Championship event in the fall, the County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation announced.
