Navy to provide updated timeline Red Hill fuel storage facility closure

Officials are scheduled to hold a public meeting Wednesday evening at the Moanalua Community Center. Last month, the Navy said it was on track to close Red Hill by 2028. Right now, crews are scheduled to finish pressure washing the tanks by the end of the year.

Honolulu City Council considers additional property tax exemptions for homeowners

If a property’s value increases by a certain percentage, the bill would exempt that increase from a person’s property taxes. Those who own and live in their homes on Oʻahu already have a home exemption that decreases their property taxes.

USGS detects over 200 earthquakes at Kīlauea in 8-hour span

A new spate of seismic activity has prompted scientists to keep a closer eye on Hawaiʻi Islands’s Kīlauea volcano. The earthquakes were detected in the Upper East Rift Zone over an eight-hour period Tuesday afternoon. The volcano is not erupting and an eruption is not imminent.
