Kamehameha Schools management plan for Keauhou Bay draws waves of community opposition

The trust, which owns a total of 54 acres of land at the bay in West Hawai’i, aims to enhance, revitalize and transform the bay area so place-based cultural education and revenue-generating opportunities are reoriented to better serve the Keauhou community, visitors, cultural practitioners, existing commercial activities and other landowners, but those who oppose it say no one wants the bay to be changed into another high-end resort.

What are your thoughts on the Public Safety Power Shutoff program?
  • I think it’s a great idea. It will save lives.
  • I think it puts people at risk. Losing power means losing ability to power medical supplies.
  • It’s hard to say. The program hasn’t been engaged at this point.
  • Not sure about the program, but I like the weather camera stations.
  • I don’t know enough about the program to say if it’s helpful or not.
  • There is no simple answer to protecting against wildfires. But I’m open to the program.
  • None of the above. Leave a comment below.
