Hawai‘i Island police step up enforcement of underage drinking

In the first six months of 2024, Hawai‘i Island police arrested five people for underage drinking, compared to 13 underage drinking arrests in 2023 and 16 arrests in 2022.

Big Island community comes together to ‘Celebrate Life!’ during annual Pride Festival

Everywhere you looked Saturday at Mo‘oheau Park and Bandstand in downtown Hilo, the party was hopping. Diversity was on display in several different senses of the word. Friends and family came together to have fun. Smiles and hugs were commonplace and given out freely. There was joy, laughter, happiness, inclusiveness and acceptance. All attributes that lend themselves to celebration.

Maui’s Miles wins Hawaiʻi State Junior Golf Title

Maui’s Reagan James Miles of Kīhei won the HSJGA Boys 15-18 State Championship, held July 1-2, 2024 at Hawaiʻi Prince B/C golf course on Oʻahu.  It was the second state title for the 18 year old Miles, who also won the 2018 HSJGA State Championship at age 12.
