During their search of the residence and property, police recovered 25 dead birds; four injured birds; cockfighting paraphernalia, including gambling records; and a small amount of marijuana. Homeland Security officers also seized about $20,000 in cash.

Activity slows further at Kīlauea, returning to near background levels
It is not possible to say whether the recent heightened unrest and fluctuations in activity beneath the Big Island volcano will lead to an intrusion or eruption in the near future or simply continue as unrest. Changes in the character and location of unrest can occur quickly, as can the potential for an eruption.

Queen Kaʻahumanu Center extends rent relief and stipend to businesses impacted by Maui fires
Five Maui businesses impacted by the fires last August were selected for three months of rent relief and a $2,000 business scholarship at the Queen Kaʻahumanu Center. As part of Pacific Retail Capital Partners and Queen Kaʻahumanu Center’s #ExtendAloha campaign to spread awareness and raise funds for the community, Maui businesses that needed help getting back on their feet were encouraged to apply for the leasing space opportunity within the center.

Applications available for TOMODACHI Kibou Maui Cohort: program empowers students impacted by the Lahaina wildfires
The program is open to high school juniors and seniors who were directly impacted by the Maui wildfires. Selected cohort members will participate in training sessions on Maui, followed by a week-long trip to Higashimatsushima in the Tohoku region of Japan. Cohort members will learn about disaster recovery, meet with students from Higashimatsushima, and participate in workshops led by local community organizers directly involved in the recovery efforts following the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake.
