The four-day camp hosted by the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo is for boys and girls ages 9 to 17 and runs 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. It will include drills, games, contests and guest speakers.

The podcast focuses on research by Deborah Taira, a professor in the Univeristy of Hawai‘i at Hilo Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy and senior scientist at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu, and her colleague at the UH John A. Burns School of Medicine at Mānoa.

The May 10 incident began with a report of 3 men yelling in the area of Coral Parkway, between King Kamehameha Boulevard and Tiki Lane, and ended with a man whose sister says is mentally ill identifying 48-year-old Daniel Moriarty as the person who shot him with a rusty black powder revolver.

The victim was transported to Hilo Medical Center for treatment of a substantial laceration to her head and concussion following the early morning incident. She was released several hours later.

Maui United Way announces $500,000 to nonprofits dedicated to Maui County housing relief
Maui Economic Opportunity (MEO) received $475,000, the bulk of the funding, which will be used to supplement the Maui Fires Relief Program, the Maui Relief TANF program and the County of Maui Rental Assistance program. Ka Hale Pōmaikaʻi on Molokaʻi was also awarded $15,000 for their KHP Housing Kōkua program. Together, they anticipate helping approximately 50 families totaling well over 100 individuals. Maui United Way received a 2% commission for helping to manage the process and award the monies.
